What is the meaning of Sapphires?

Sapphires have a big story and after diamonds are one of the most highly prised stones in history.

Sapphires are known as stones of wisdom and serenity. Ancient civilisations believed that the world was set upon an enormous sapphire, which painted the sky blue with its reflection.

Sapphires have long represented a promise of honesty, loyalty, and trust. They are said to protect the wearer from evil, stress, and harm.

The History of Sapphires

Queen Elizabeth II’s personal collection is kept in a vault beneath Buckingham Palace.  One of her most cherished items is the Prince Albert Brooch: a huge sapphire given to Queen Victoria by Prince Albert the day before their wedding. The centerpiece of this brooch is a luminous blue sapphire of around 20-30 carats, surrounded by twelve diamonds.
