The ancient Romans believed that topaz protected you from danger while traveling. During the Middle Ages, it was thought that wearing topaz warded off the evil eye too. 

Citrine has long been thought to have the healing properties of the sun, offering optimism and light to the wearer.

This gemstone has been referred to as the "merchant's stone" or "money stone", due to a superstition that it would bring prosperity.

Topaz was discovered by the Romans over two millennia ago on the Island of Topazios in the Red Sea. Shades of yellow, brown, and honey are popular, with pale pink or sherry red forms rare.

Brazil is the leading producer of citrine, with much of its production coming from the state of Rio Grande, do Sul. The name derives from the Latin citrina, where the French word citron comes from.

Citrine was first appreciated as a golden-yellow gemstone in Greece between 300 and 150 BC, during the Hellenistic Age.
